Here at ShopPad, it is our goal to help every entrepreneur become successful. We’ve worked with tens of thousands of businesses over the years and we pride ourselves on giving the same level of great service to all of our merchants.
Recently, we turned our attention to listening and learning about the added difficulties that Black entrepreneurs face in this world.
For instance, the average annual revenue of businesses owned by Black women was $27.8K in 2012 (the most recent year numbers are available from), which is 614% less than white women made on average that same year. Black-owned businesses collectively saw a total annual revenue of $187.6B compared to the $12.9T white-owned businesses made.
Statistics show white people have access to more resources, both financial and educational. Given those facts, we realized that one resource we as a company could offer to Black Shopify entrepreneurs is visibility.
We began putting together a list of Black-owned Shopify stores to serve as a guide to finding your new favorite brand. Our mission was to catalog as many as we could and soon realized that our list was growing far beyond the limits of a blog post. We’ve split it up. You can find our directory of Black-owned Shopify stores here. As a part of our commitment to amplifying the voices of our Black merchants, we will continue to update and add to this list all the time. (Send us a store to add at cara@theshoppad.com.)
Within this blog post, you’ll find we’ve highlighted some of our favorite brands in each category.
